300 years ago it was reported for the first time that Kanna/Channa/Kougoed was smoked, chewed or sniffed by the South African Khoi Khoi.

This plant can be found in the nature only in the so called "Kannaland" in south africa. The cultivation takes place over seeds. These are treated like cacti seed. Kanna reaches a height of up to 30 cm, trains fleshy roots, a smooth trunk and lowlying, strongly spreading branches.
